Match Comments:
SSFAC was looking to finish the 2009 portion of their schedule with a big win, but it wasn't meant to be as Club Sport Maritimo shut out South City 1-0 with a goal coming in the 60th minute of the match. It was a sluggish type of game as both teams tried to establish control of the contest. Most of the early action seemed to be centered in the middle of the pitch as SSF tried to penetrate the Maritimo defense. A few good scoring chances left the team empty handed as the shots went wide, struck the crossbar, and a fine diving save turned away a potential goal. SSF never seemed to find its pace and couldn't get the equalizer in the closing minutes of the game as Maritimo was content to pack it in and play tight defense. As the team heads to its winter break, they know they have the talent to do some damage in the division when action returns on January 24th. A steady improvement each week has the team looking forward to what it can accomplish in early 2010. As for now, it is a time to take a rest, heal up, and enjoy the holidays. The team will return to training right after New Years.
