Sometimes, things just don't go your way. SSFAC found that out in a big way on Sunday as Juventus Academy handed them a 6-0 defeat to give South City their 1st loss of the season. Although SSF had their early opportunities to find the net, it was Juventus that broke the seal on the scoreboard when they were awarded with a penalty kick in the 29th minute. They rode that 1-0 lead into halftime, but soon thereafter, things would take a turn for the worse. Defender Martin Wright was issued a Red Card and sent off in the 51st minute, leaving SSF with a man down for the remainder of the match. South City hung in there until minute 65, when Juventus capitalized with goal number 2. Although it was still a close match, SSF was beginning to feel the pace of a young opponent and being a man down.
Eventually tired legs did them in as Juventus closed out the match scoring 4 goals in the final 10 minutes, 2 coming in the final two minutes to seal the win. A tough result for the team on this day, but now they get a week off to regroup, focus on the things they can improve upon and get themselves ready for Bay Area United on Sunday, October 23rd at El Camino High School. Game time is 10:30am
