Josh Trommler scored twice and Jack Orr tallied the game winner 12 minutes from time to lead SSFAC to a 3-2 victory over Gordon Biersch in which South City maintained their unbeaten streak for yet another week. After a scoreless first half, SSF broke into the scoring column when Trommler received a pass from Blair Smith and slotted it home to the keepers far left giving the team a 1-0 lead. Trommler found the net again just 4 minutes later when he again benefited from an assist from both Smith and Shane Kutaka, and South City was sitting on a 2 goal lead 64 minutes into the match. Gordon Biersch wasn't about to go away, as they fought back with two goals 6 minutes apart to level the score at 2 apiece. The game then became even more intense as both clubs looked for the game winner. Goal keeper Abner Ramos filling in for the suspended Adrian Monroy came up huge in the nets as he made numerous saves, came out of the box to clear away through balls and made one special save going down to smother a shot with his legs and keep SSF in the game. The midfield which was having another strong game behind the play of Gareth Lea, Leo Monteiro, Kutaka, and Pedro Crispin, started to control the tempo of the match and in the 78 minute, Jack Orr raced up the wing taking a ball started from Smith and Trommler and buried his chance to give SSF the lead and ultimate winning goal. The defense was again stellar, led by Reuben Wartens, Ali Ibrahim, Scott Ellis, Robert Rustia, and Jack Orr. The forward line kept good pressure on the Biersch defense as Blair Smith, Fabio Marques, and Trommler kept firing shots on target. After a sluggish start, South City came out in the second half and played their game as they established control and settled into their tempo. The win kept SSF on top of the table, but now the task becomes even more intense as they face the Majors Division defending champion Santa Clara Sporting next week at Burlingame High.
