SSFAC traveled to Redwood City Sunday nght to face JASA Dos at Red Morton Park. Although these two have only played against each other a handful of times over the last few seasons, every match up has been intense and full of excitement. That was the case again this week as the clubs battled to a 3-3 tie. South City struck early in the opening half when Greg Hui sent a corner into Brendan Cadam who finished it with a clinical header to give SSF a 1-0 lead. Shortly thereafter, Carlos Ballesteros sent Sam Nadell off to the races down the left wing with a beautiful pass. Nadell's shot was parried away to the JASA keeper, but to the feet of Greg Hui who buried it for a 2-0 advantage.
The match took a turn 10 minutes into the second half when JASA struck from about 18 yards out to cut SSF's lead in half. Ten minutes later, JASA found the equalizer as a failed clearance out of the defensive area led to another strike from the JASA forward. Now playing with confidence, JASA took a 3-2 lead when a diving header off a set piece found the net giving JASA an apparent great comeback win, however South City was not to be denied as they began to put extreme pressure on the JASA backline. They found success when Hui chipped a dangerous ball into the penalty area that was nodded smartly into Cadam's path by Ballesteros. Cadam trapped the ball with his thigh and calmly volleyed home the equalizer in the 89th minute. SSF had one more opportunity as they now were totally energized, but couldn't manage to have a two on one chance find the net as the game concluded.
SSF now has a week off before they return to action vs Pal Alto SC on Sunday November 3rd at El Camino High School. Kickoff for this contest is set for 10:30 am
