SSFAC took on Gordon Biersch in Liga NorCal's featured Game of the Week, and it lived up to its billing. Both clubs came out flying to start the match and it didn't take long for action to happen. Biersch got the opening goal when forward Dan Oaka found himself with time at the edge of the box and he found the top corner to give them the early 1-0 lead. SSF responded quickly when Brendan Cadam managed to find some space in the center of the opposition's box and slotted home a shot to the left hand corner to level the score.
It didn't take long for more fireworks to happen, as Kevin Ma connected on a ball across from speedy winger Greg Hui, and then shortly thereafter, Sam Nadell found the net with yet another assist from Hui. Things looked good with the Home side sitting on a 2 goal lead, but Gordon Biersch was not to be denied as they cut the gap to 1 with a long throw in that found the head of their forward who put it away. SSF regained the 2 goal lead from a spot kick as Cadam calmly put home the PK from a resulting foul in the area. However, Biersch once again had an answer and cut the lead to 4-3 as the teams entered into half time.
The second half saw the match beginning to cool down a bit, but SSF jumped ahead 5-3 when a Carlos Ballesteros shot was saved by the keeper who left it in the path for Nadell to collect his 2nd goal of the day. Gordon Biersch once again drew closer as they were on the receiving end of a penalty kick, which player Junior made no mistake on and converted easily. Biesrch would eventually find the equalizer as SSF keeper, Adrian Monroy made a brilliant save only to have the Biersch forward head home the ball to knot things up. Both sides worked hard to find a winner, but this goal fest ended up as a 5-5 tie.
Next up for SSF is another battle with the defending league champs, Santa Clara Sporting on Sunday, November 24th at El Camino Park in Palo Alto. Kick off is 6:00 pm
