SSFAC Wins Their First Majors Division Title !!

South San Francisco's First Title Since Winning the 2nd Division in 1996-97.  The Champs Story....Click Here

The year was 1995, and SSFAC had just completed one of their best seasons winning 12 games but finished in 2nd place just 2 points shy of promotion. They were determined to come back the following year and make 1st place their own. In 1996, they did just that as they compiled a record of 13-1-4 to win the title and earn promotion to the 1st Division. Future seasons saw SSF advance to the Premier Division and eventually the Majors Division on the strenght of 2nd place finishes, which guaranteed promotion to the next level. Winning the Division had eluded them...... until NOW.

The 2021-22 PSL Majors Division, now a regional Division of NorCal Premier, found South San Francisco A.C. winning their 1st Divisional Title since 1996, and what a run they had. With a record of 8-1-1, South City was electrifying, dominant, entertaining, and confident every time they took the field. Why shouldn't they be?....they had the leagues best defense only allowing 10 goals in 10 games, led by goal keeper Adrian Monroy who recorded 5 shutouts in those 10 games, and a core in front of him that closed down any offensive threats from the opposition. Fernando Costa, Kevin Ma, Martin Wright, Bob Weger, and Aidan Durgerian had Monroy's back as they battled game in and game out.

The midfield controlled the tempo and the forwards did their job as SSF struck for 32 goals on the season. The team had a 9 game unbeaten streak and won the title by 5 points despite playing 2 fewer games then the 2nd place finisher.

This group played for each other and had an unbelievable chemistry. If someone was missing, another player stepped up. Eleven different players scored, led by Carlos Ballesteros with 7. The team recorded 27 assists, which showcased their unselfish style of play, and when they were challenged on the pitch by a good team, they responded with a level of play that was beautiful to witness.

Player Coaches Gareth Lea, Djim Andemel and Martin Wright put together an oustanding roster that not only met their preseason goals and expectations, but exceeded them. Winning the league meant many things to these players, but most of all it showed what hard work, dedication, passion, and love for the teammate standing next to you, will bring in return.

Can they do it again?.....with Brendan Cadam, Greg Hui, Chris Kyriacou, Sam Nadell, Cory Schmidt, Connor Grant, Chris Zhou, Kristopher Szeto, Denis Ivanov, Soulemayne Yattara, and Kian Katanforoosh joining the above mentioned players, the sky remains the limit and the any challenge will be reachable, as these young men continue to show the right way to do things both on and off the pitch.

Congratulations South San Francisco A.C., 2021-22 Champions !!!
